Hyperthyroidism Symptoms




The hyperthyroidism is caused as a result of the excessive production of the thyroid hormones. The thyroid hormones are responsible for controlling the metabolic action of our body. Apart from this, the hyperthyroidism symptoms which tend to appear physically as well as internally differ according to factors like age, sex etc.

The various hyperthyroidism symptoms are as follows:

  • Weight loss: this is an important symptom of all and is often accompanied by increased appetite.
  • Anxiety: the person tends to be emotionally depressed.
  • Heat intolerance

  • Periosteal new bone formation
  • In many children excessive growth is visible and as a result may cause an increase in their weight rather than weight loss as is usual.

Apart from these hyperthyroidism symptoms some symptoms which occur are of the neurological manifestation and include the following hyperthyroidism symptoms:

  • Unintentional muscle movement
  • Improper functioning of the muscle fibers
  • Periodic paralysis

The other hyperthyroidism symptoms which affect the body are as follows:

  • Increased bowel movement
  • Insomnia
  • Moist skin
  • Bulging eye balls
  • Irregular menstrual periods

The thyrotoxic crisis is although a rare condition but is severe condition of hyperthyroidism. In this case, the patient becomes very sick and is stressed out physically. The symptoms associated with this severe condition are as follows:

  • Increased body temperatures of up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Coma
  • Dehydration
  • And finally death
