The thyroid cysts which form are of various shapes and sizes and vary according to the mount of fluid present in them for instance they can be either fully filled or p;artially filled and accordingly the intensity can be known. also the amount of the fluid present inside the thyroid cysts is an important factor in deciding whether the cysts so formed is having a risk for harboring thyroid cancer or not. It has been observed that the cysts which are entirely filled with fluid have a lower risk of forming thyroid cancer as compared to the thyroid cysts which have solid components contained in them. the diagnosis of a cyst can b done as follows:
Ultrasound though a modern technique is not used vastly instead the thyroid aspiring biopsy is used. In this case, fluid is taken from the cyst. It is also an uncommon method and used in less than 15% people. In the cases where there are large cysts or are complex then they are aspirated using a fine needle to check for the possibility of any cancer or malignancy. the ultrasound biopsies are done for the thyroid cystic nodules and are useful in order to ensure that the materials so examined contains other thyroid cells in addition to the cystic fluids. After the diagnosis of the thyroid cysts they are subject to treatment .the treatment for the same can be carried out by puncturing the cyst with a needle and taking out the fluid from it.if this occurs again and again then surgery is done in such cases In some cases the multiple cysts are also formed and for their removal, surgery is the best alternative. |
